Why I've Been Avoiding My Own Business All Week
Last night I attended a webinar with a lovely lady called Elyssa Smith, learning about procrastination and how it affects business owners.
It genuinely felt like she was speaking directly to me.
For the last few months I've been putting together my very first Signature Styling Programme. My programme is for women wanting to start their days as stress-free as possible. Women who want to look and feel their best selves every day without a ton of effort and want to stop wasting money on clothes that don't work for them.
The average woman already spends 17 minutes a day deciding what to wear. My programme is designed to more than halve that.
The programme is due to start in September. And still is.
The workbooks were completed almost a month ago, but filming the 7 modules has been way more stressful than I ever thought. Not because I don't know how to film and edit, or lack the knowledge but because I've been worrying about the little things. Does my voice sound ok? Is my hair a mess? Is it obvious I'm filming in 31-degree heat, looking sweaty? None of that has anything to do with my programme.
There Can Be a Lot Riding on One Outfit
Wedding season is one of the most underestimated sources of wardrobe stress.
On the surface, it seems simple enough.
Find a dress.
Choose some shoes.
Add a bag.
Done.
But anyone who’s stood in front of their wardrobe before a wedding knows it’s rarely that straightforward.
Fashion YouTube Rant! 😱
So, I was watching YouTube this morning. There was a video called ‘12 items EVERY woman needs in her summer wardrobe! (and what to get rid of)’, it’s currently only one day old and already has over 4k views. The creator has over 150k subscribers, so she’s fairly influential in the YouTube fashion space.
I like to watch a vast array of fashion content on YouTube. From luxury creators like Cassie Thorpe, Karen Brit Chic and Super Dacob, to more everyday fashion creators like Lydia Tomlinson, to the more in-depth fashion critics like Fashion Roadman, Bliss Foster and Tuba Avalon. All of whom I’ve watched for many, many years. I believe it helps me get a well-rounded view on things and keeps me up to date with everything fashion, something I could talk about until the cows come home.
The 17-Minute Morning Tax Nobody Talks About
Did you know you’re losing 47 minutes before you’ve even left the house?
Not to the commute. Not to emails. Not to the school run. To getting ready and more specifically, to your wardrobe.
Research shows that the average woman spends 17 of those 47 minutes purely deciding what to wear. Standing in front of the wardrobe. Staring at it. Trying things on, taking them off, feeling that low-level frustration creep in and eventually settling for something that feels... fine.
Not confident. Not quite right. Not quite you. Just fine.
